Mission: Develop the infrastructure to support a Global Tier 1 Internet hub located in the InternetCoast region. The Infrastructure Committee is currently supporting primary initiatives on the InternetCoast.

1.    Expansion of Core Backbone Network Facilities to Key Commercial and Carrier Hotels through Virtual Connectivity

• The creation of a “resource grid” outlining the IT infrastructure in South Florida to include key carrier facilities and commercial centers as an extension of the Network Access Points (NAPs) that were deployed in South Florida in 2001. Several major carriers have demonstrated willingness to build and create connectivity points throughout the region.

2.    Backbone Network Connectivity for South Florida Universities

• The development of a plan to provide physical and/or virtual network connectivity to the universities in South Florida, in order to provide the bandwidth for enhanced collaboration between the university systems on the InternetCoast.

3.    Last Mile Wireless Infrastructure for InternetCoast Communities

• Economically Challenged Communities
• University and Educational Institutions
• Commercial Centers

To facilitate the research and future deployment of leading edge technology on the InternetCoast, centered about last mile wireless infrastructure solutions.  The Infrastructure committee will work with private corporations and federally and state funded programs.
